Linden Lab® today announced that Bing Gordon, Chief Product Officer of Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers (KPCB), has joined its board of directors. Gordon will advise on strategy, product, marketing and other issues as Linden Lab continues to improve Second Life® and brings to market its new platform for user-created social VR experiences, Sansar™.
Sansar empowers people to create, share, and monetize their own social VR experiences. Slated for open beta in H1 2017, Sansar is currently available in a limited creator preview. More than 10,000 creators have applied for early access at Sansar.com, and those invited have already published hundreds of unique social VR experiences with the platform.

At KPCB, Gordon works with companies focused on consumer engagement and gamification in industries ranging from education and health to commerce and media. He leads the sFund at KPCB, the investment initiative to fund and build applications and services that deliver on the promise of the social web. The sFund launched in 2010 and has made 16 investments to date, including four seeds.
Prior to joining KPCB, Gordon was a marketing and product executive at Electronic Arts (EA) for 26 years, since its founding in 1982. He drove the branding strategy for EA Sports as well as the pricing strategy for packaged goods and online games. He created EA’s studio organization and contributed to the design and marketing of many popular EA franchises including John Madden Football, The Sims, Sim City, Need for Speed, Tiger Woods Golf, Club Pogo, and Command and Conquer.
Gordon has served on the boards of Amazon and Zynga and was a founding director at Katango (acquired by Google in 2011), ngmoco (acquired by DeNA in 2010) and Audible (acquired by Amazon in 2008).
